Who does your (Kelly's) printing?
I (Kelly Heck) produce my own prints. Many of my pieces are developed in the darkroom; these prints were produced while I was in college (SCAD, 2006-2008). I now produce my prints digitally. My giclee prints are printed on an Epson Photo Stylus 7900. I try to use creative papers that enhance my images. My favorite papers to date are Hahnemuhle Fine Art Baryta (a glossy, thick, fiber paper) and Epson Somerset Velvet (a lighter, delicate, toothy paper, which reminds me of watercolor paper).
How do I care for my prints?
Some papers can be very delicate. Though these prints should last a lifetime and much more, there are many ways to extend the life of your prints.
Handle your prints carefully. Make sure your hands are clean and dry. If you have them, wear white, cotton gloves when touching your prints directly.
Keep prints out of direct sunlight. Sun can damage your prints, even when framed. You can purchase special UV glass at local arts and craft stores which will help reduce sun damage.
Keep your prints away from damaging environments. This could include smoke, moisture (bathrooms, basements), grease (kitchens) and much more.
When framing your prints, it's good to include a mat. The mat will keep the prints surface off of the glass. Over time, a print set directly on glass could lead to surface damage. Use archival friendly materials in your framing, especially when selecting your tape. It is best to use photo corners on your prints, rather than placing the tape on the print.
If you have any questions about print care, do not hesitate to contact the store!
Am I viewing the ACTUAL print I am purchasing?
The product pictured is the product you are purchasing. Often times, artists have multiple prints and display one to sell the others. Not in this case. You will receive exactly what you are viewing.
The only instance where you are not viewing the actual print is if the description says the product is "print to order", which means the print has not yet been made and will be created after you have placed your order.
